Vacancies at The Ship Inn on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne

We are currently looking for a Chef and a General Assistant.

The Ship Inn is a busy successful free house. Located in an area of outstanding natural beauty the 18 century inn has a traditional bar, small busy restaurant & well accredited hotel accommodation. We are currently looking for a General Assistant and a Chef.

We are not a large establishment, but what we are is a small busy traditional inn with accommodation situated on Holy Island on the Northumberland coast. Located in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty the island attracts over 500,000 visitors a year with trade primarily condensed in the tourist season of March to October. The business has continued to be built upon and has a good reputation for its range of traditional food plus a number of speciality dishes.

Our business profile entails meeting the demands of daily visitors to the island for lunch and evening meals with a la carte dining and also maintaining a good reputation for our hotel clientele where we have 4 bedrooms, all offering a high standard of accommodation. Also with the inn’s location in close proximity to historic Lindisfarne castle we are called upon frequently throughout the year to cater for weddings and other special events where speciality catering is required.

Chef

We are looking for either a young aspiring passionate chef willing to take on day to day responsibility for our kitchen, or an experienced individual with a proven track record who would still find it rewarding working in a smaller establishment. In return we offer a package including live in accommodation and benefits. A car owner would be beneficial but not essential.

General Assistant

What are we looking for? The position would suit an aspiring individual prepared to work for the new season March to end of October with a possibility of continuing employment into the winter season. The role covers all aspects of working in a busy inn with its small hotel environment and will require a flexible approach by being able to work “front of house” plus assist in a variety of other duties including housekeeping and kitchen work to ensure the smooth running of this popular establishment.
